Dave Eggers

I was given a book before going traveling back in 2006, something for the journey i was told. You shall know our Velocity by Dave Eggers. During that month my time was spent with my face glued to the pages of this humorous yet emancipating novel and once completed a feverish search round random bookshops in Manila looking for the next by the author.

Dave Eggers exploded into the literary world with the publication of A HEARTBREAKING WORK OF STAGGERING GENIUS (2000), a semi-fictionalized memoir about the death of his parents and his founding of a magazine in San Francisco while taking care of his younger brother, this story really touched my me, the concept behind it and the very real realities of the responsibilities of being the older brother in a close family. The book became an instant bestseller with young, savvy readers, and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

With a few more books under the belt, Eggers started turning his creative attention towards screenplays and adaptations, most recently ” Where the Wild Things are” released Dec 09. As this book was my favorite bedtime story it had a lot to live up too, as most kids from my generation would agree. The film is a heartbreaking look at the confusion of childhood, the extremities of emotion that shift on a pin top. Who better then Eggers to tackle the job and what a job he did.

Here is a list of his works, i do truly suggest you check them out.
