Valleys of Neptune

Valleys of Neptune

Valleys of Neptune in the first rays of the new rays of the rising Sun, possibly the biggest release of the year for me. OK, so yes i know he’s physically dead an it can only be post humus an kinda out of his control, which does raise the question, why release these embryonic pieces, was it a quick buck, would Jimi agree? but, as far as musicians go it doesn’t get much better then Jimi Hendrix for me. Kaleidoscope guitar visions channeled through a man, far along that old highway to becoming one with all sentient beings.

Valleys of Neptune is just the tip of the iceberg, however, as Sony Legacy is also reissuing re-vamped versions of the classic Hendrix albums Are You Experienced (1967), Axis: Bold As Love (1968) and Electric Ladyland (1968) as well as the hits collection Smash Hits (1969) and the posthumous album First Rays Of The New Rising Sun. All of the titles are being released as two-disc sets with the music on CD and a “making of” documentary on DVD with band interviews and other cool stuff. The albums are also being released as vinyl editions, and all were remastered by long-time Hendrix foil, engineer Eddie Kramer, from the original two-track master tapes.

I love it if I’m honest, just hearing the man talk, freak out in the rhythm or just trash the stage, its an insight in my mind to a little taste of the man behind the music.
